" On the matter of the construction of our home at by D. Gartner Contracting Limited, we are pleased to highly endorse Darwin Gartner as an exceptional custom home builder.
The entire process of working with Darwin and Jackie Gartner on the building of our home at Eagle Point was a pleasure from the time they provided us the quotation to the date of completion. We had received several other competitive bids to build our house but both my wife and I were delighted with the initial presentation and the professional manner in which it was delivered. Not only was the written proposal extremely detailed in every aspect of the project, but the added touch of bringing along actual pieces of the mouldings, baseboards and other finishing materials was frankly what won us over. The fact that Darwin’s price was right in the ballpark with contractors who gave us only a fraction of the detail was also a key consideration.
We asked about the quality of his crews and were pleased to hear that the heart of his team was comprised of actual employees who had been with Darwin for many years. This added great comfort about the scheduling issues as he would not be delayed by timing issues with other sub trades.
The framing crew was part of the long term team and was both professional and experienced, which helped massively in interpreting difficult aspects of the plans themselves. As a side note, but a very important one, when our window covering contractor (who we had used on previous houses) measured the openings for blinds etc, he was quick to note that all the window frames were perfectly square and required no special adjustments to his blinds to compensate for irregularities.
Once into the final stages of framing and drywall, Darwin was excellent in visualizing and recommending changes to the ceilings that added immense character to the overall impression of our home’s interior. We have very high ceilings which needed some extra care and attention and while those suggestions did add some extra cost, the value of the finishing far surpassed that cost
We noted a serious work ethic from all members of his team, tidiness both inside and outside the structure itself and a willingness to discuss what was being done at all stages of the building process. We had a very wet building season and the home required more drying that initially thought and Darwin made sure that additional heaters and blowers were brought in before the OK was given to add the hardwood floors. Doing that too soon would have meant possible warping of our floors but that has not happened due to the extra attention taken to ensure the wood met moisture standard minimums.
We met with Darwin after the first year and my wife and I went over every wall, ceiling, closet and window and door opening to see what needed to be fixed, but found nothing…zero. While it could be argued that this was due largely to the fact our footings and foundations are secure, we believe the quality of the workmanship that went into the construction of our home, the care and attention to detail and the perfection required by Darwin along with the shared pride in a job well done by all crew members had much more to do with the home we enjoy today."

" D Gartner Contracting Ltd began working with us two years before we’d be ready to build. They were willing to solve problems and give us advice even though we were a future prospect and living nearly 2000 miles away. Darwin and his staff were enthusiastic about building a house on the river, and willing to tackle the special challenges involved.
When we were ready to build, Darwin recommended an architect who turned our vision into a buildable design that satisfied both our needs and the requirements of the Fisheries people and the district. We camped on-site during the house construction and were impressed by the professionalism of Darwin’s building crew; they were fussier about the details than we were! They were all easy to work with.
The end result is just great; it’s exactly what we wanted. The quality of construction was much better than we expected, or had experienced on previous buildings. Despite additional requirements from the government’s Archaeological Branch, the house was finished close to our schedule. Did we get value for money? Absolutely; we felt we got a good deal.
After-care has been great too. We had a few minor problems with the house once we;d moved in; these have all been fixed and Darwin’s staff has been very helpful in solving other problems, even those that are due to nature or the blundering homeowner!
Would we build with Darwin again?
Well, we don’t expect to as the house will outlast us, but yes, definitely. We went out on a limb to build our dream house; Darwin and his crew made it happen"
